"I would like to fully endorse Avery Wang in his candidacy for Palo Alto Unified School District’s Board of Education. Avery is highly educated with a professional career who has had prior experience and insights into the district’s schools as previously had children within the district. In addition, he is an empathetic leader, an advocate of a fair and transparent math advancement system, and is collaborative working together with others. Avery has integrity and the best interests for students of all levels within our district. Avery has an open mind and willing to listen to parents’ concerns. In trying to address a concern that I raised which impacts all middle school students’ access to transparency and placement in the appropriate math class, he was willing to review my diligence as a practicing attorney on specific provisions of the California Education Code. He acknowledged that one should not merely rely on the then-current board members and Superintendent of Educational services’ unilateral position, but a determination should be made based on outside counsel validation of the California Education Code to make sure the Board’s determination is a non-biased conclusion. While we all seek ideally to have equity for all students, equity should not be at the cost of addressing only one faction of students and should not be driven by bias for leveling everyone at the same type of class. Each student should be given the same transparent opportunities with an opportunity to challenge themselves within the district’s schools. I am confident that Avery can address all students’ needs without bias and fairly to make our district a better place for all families."

"I am proud to strongly endorse Avery Wang for the PAUSD Board of Education. A research scientist and accomplished inventor of the core technology behind Shazam, Avery is also a dedicated father of three PAUSD alumni. He brings a rare combination of deep technical expertise, proven innovation, and an in-depth understanding of the real challenges facing math education today. As co-founder of SaveMath.net, Avery has worked tirelessly to ensure our students receive a strong, rigorous mathematics foundation. What sets Avery apart is his character: he is brave, he perseveres, and he does not back down when facing difficult situations. In a time when school boards too often avoid tough conversations, Avery consistently steps forward with honesty, clarity, and solutions-focused leadership. Avery Wang will be an outstanding, independent voice on the PAUSD Board—one who puts our children’s long-term academic success first and is unafraid to do the hard work required to get there.
"I first met Avery Wang on a call, where parents were seeking help to navigate the district system and advocate for their children against bullying. Avery was one of the volunteers who showed up that day. He came to help parents he’d never met, listening patiently and offering his support. When he discovered the district was violating the Math Placement Act, he personally led a lawsuit: recruiting fellow parents, building a strategy, and financing the effort, ultimately prompting PAUSD to improve its policy. That’s who Avery is — a leader who follows through on action, not just beautiful words. As the son of immigrants, Avery understands firsthand the difficulty of navigating an unfamiliar system, and he knows that immigrant families from different backgrounds face different circumstances and needs, and all of which deserve respect and understanding. As a longtime Palo Alto resident who raised three children through PAUSD, he carries a deep sense of responsibility for this community’s next generation. And as the co-founder and Chief Scientist behind Shazam, holding over 100 patents in applied math and signal processing, he brings genuinely world-class vision and expertise to help guide the district through this uncertain AI era. As an immigrant parent myself, I know how rare it is to find someone who truly listens and who then stands up for you. Avery did both. Avery Wang has the vision, passion, expertise, and commitment PAUSD needs in a board member. This November, let’s give PAUSD a leader who shows up, speaks up, and gets it done. Please vote for Avery Wang."
